Police Violence:

On March 13, 2017, Luke Stewart was shot and killed by Euclid Police Department Officer Matthew Rhodes after responding to a report from a resident about Luke sleeping in his car.Mary Stewart filed an excessive force lawsuit against the officers involved in her son’s killing. They had no valid reason to engage with Luke, she said, because he “wasn’t doing anything illegal. And now he’s dead.” .Luke’s story is a part of an on going series of stories by Reuters documenting African Americans who are challenging police brutality and officers who have been granted qualified immunity.
